The Level One Triage Transaction Monitoring Analyst is responsible for the initial review and investigation of flagged transactions to detect potential suspicious activities related to money laundering, fraud, or other financial crimes. This role involves analyzing alerts generated by transaction monitoring systems, performing basic investigations, and escalating cases as necessary to senior analysts or QC Lead.
Minimum of 1-2 year of Transaction Monitoring and Investigations experience for Junior and 5 years for Senior Analysts will be needed. Expertise in AML, KYC, Sanctions and/or Fraud are highly desirable.
Key Responsibilities:
Review and analyze alerts generated by transaction monitoring engine based on established rules and criteria.
Conduct initial investigations to identify potentially suspicious transactions or activities in accordance with policies, procedures, and controls of owner institution.
Document findings clearly and accurately in investigation reports or case management systems.
Perform triage duties by assessing alert validity and prioritizing alerts for further review or escalation based on four-eye review criteria and other Escalation/QA workflows.
Collaborate with other teams, such as compliance, fraud prevention, and law enforcement, when necessary.
Maintain knowledge of relevant regulations, company policies, and industry best practices related to anti-money laundering (AML), fraud detection, and transaction monitoring. Lean on QC Lead as SME in the industry standards.
Identify patterns or trends that may indicate fraudulent or suspicious behavior.
Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Criminal Justice, Business, or related field preferred.
Experience: Previous experience in AML, fraud investigation, financial crime compliance, or related fields preferred but not always required for entry-level roles.
Skills:
Strong analytical and investigative skills.
Attention to detail and ability to work with large volumes of data.
Good written and verbal communication skills.
Familiarity with transaction monitoring systems and AML workflows is a plus.
Ability to follow procedures and guidelines consistently.
Basic understanding of financial products and services. Certifications: AML certifications (such as CAMS) are advantageous for Senior Analysts/Investigators
Role Description for QC Lead:
Similar to Senior Analyst above but need to also have the ability to perform below.
Provide QC and performance feedback to TM Analysts to minimize errors
Ensure client vetting data and document processing comply with regulations, guidelines, standards and client policies for all new accounts
Maintain subject matter expertise of applicable AML laws and regulations and provide guidance compliance requirements as necessary
Perform QC reviews of L1 TM reviews (100% QC, sampling in BAU when certified by Client).
Conduct certification of TM Analysts.
Support and deliver training (through train-the-trainer model).
